FROM EW: Lupita Nyong'o in Talks to Star in Marvel's Black Panther

Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o may soon be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

EW has confirmed that Nyong’o is in negotiations to star in the upcoming Black Panther movie, opposite Chadwick Boseman.

Creed director Ryan Coogler is both directing and writing the script for Black Panther, which follows T’Challa, king of the fictional African nation Wakanda. Boseman made his debut as the warrior king in Captain America: Civil War, which opened last weekend and has already grossed more than $ 756 million around the world.

Details about Nyong’o’s possible character are being kept under wraps.

After winning a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in 12 Years a Slave, Nyong’o most recently lent her voice to Maz Kanata in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the wolf Raksha in The Jungle Book. She’ll next appear in Disney’s upcoming drama Queen of Katwe, as the mother of a young Ugandan chess prodigy.

Black Panther hits theaters on Feb. 16, 2018.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported Nyong’o’s involvement with Black Panther.
