Future has chosen the second week of January since 2011 to drop a new mixtape. And while it shouldn’t be a shocker by now, it’s still a huge, incredible surprise to get music from the man without any warning! Purple Reign dropped on January 17, the first of his highly-anticipated projects of 2016. Click through to STREAM the entire mixtape!
Future’s surprise mixtape, Purple Reign, isn’t just a play on the title of the classic Prince album, Purple Rain; it’s the name of his upcoming 22-city tour with Ty Dolla $ ign, which starts February 17 in Madison, Wisconsin. The DJ Esco and Metro Boomin’ produced tape has fans going wild. And that includes What a Time to Be Alive collaborator Drake!
Drake shared his pal’s good news on Instagram, posting the cover of the album; he captioned it: “That boy back on it early. New @future tape !!!” So are we going to hear anymore jams from Drake and Future? Future’s new mixtape follows his previous successful tapes: Monster, Beast Mode and 56 Nights. Don’t think Future’s just putting out Purple Reign and relaxing for the rest of the year; he’s got Ape Shit, with Mike WiLL Made–It, as well as sequels to Monster and Beast Mode scheduled. YES!

Future’s been working on new stuff for some time. His rumored lady, Blac Chyna, starred in an R-rated music video for his hit “Rich Sex,” which shocked fans with their nudity as they spent the video rolling around in bed.
